Gul Dolen is an assistant professor of Neuroscience in the Brain Sciences Institute at John’s Hopkin’s University. Her research focuses on how the brain enables social cognition and reward through basic neurobiological processes such as neuromodulation and synaptic plasticity. In addition, her laboratory is interested in understanding the pathophysiology of autism, a disorder characterized by impairments in social interaction, with the goal of designing mechanism-based therapies for the treatment of the disease. She received her M.D./Ph.D. from Brown University, working in Mark Bear’s laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and completed postdoctoral training in Robert Malenka’s laboratory at Stanford University.
